I believe that our lives are like a beautiful tea cup, and we decide each day what experiences, what people and what attitudes go into our cup each day. Every day we are selecting our influences by who and what is in our cup and what we want our cup to embody. This project is about identifying and appreciating who and what inspires us by being aware of what is in our cup and making sure we take time to appreciate honor our journey and the roles we play in each others lives.
The last public Cup of Karma event for awhile was held on Monday, August 7th 2017 at Camp Jabberwocky, here on Martha's Vineyard. I can't wait to continue these public events during the summer of 2018 !
To every speaker and every venue I have had the pleasure to work with, thank you for saying YES and for believing in my vision. I am working hard to expand this project beyond the Vineyard through events, curriculum and recordings. I invite you to stay tuned for much more to come with The Cup of Karma Project.
With overwhelming support and kindness from so many island venues here on Martha's Vineyard, The Cup of Karma Project "popped up" at many different locations around the island and the events came to a close for the season on September 10th of 2016. These " Tea Talks" have all been free and open to the public. These gatherings are created to simply provide a celebration for all of us to gather and appreciate the journey of life.
As a response to my life long interest in what inspires us and how others touch our lives, I am recording, collecting and archiving stories about people who inspire our lives. This project is not about the telling of the perfect story or living the perfect life, but it's about taking more time to reflect upon, appreciate and honor the experiences and people that make the tapetsry of our lives so profound and ultimately generating appreciation for those who inspire, influence and touch our lives so deeply.
I send out my most sincere gratitude to all of the people who have already come forward to tell their story since the inception of this project in July of 2015. Additionally thank you to the venues who have believed in this project and the concept that drives it forward. I will be forever humbled by the humans who have taken the Cup of Karma leap of faith and continue to jump right in. Collectively we are creating a vehicle that inspires, honors and celebrates those we love and learn from, every day of our lives. - Polly Simpkins
